1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Before You Scroll app, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the app.

2. Description of Service

Before You Scroll is a mindfulness and habit-building application that helps users manage their screen time and develop healthier digital habits. The app includes: flexible check-in options to unlock apps—mood quote only, breathing exercises only, or both mood quote and breathing exercises; app locking via Apple's Screen Time API; intention reminders and an Intent Library with recurring and overdue reminders; AI-generated personalized quotes and daily inspiration; optimization questions to refine quote recommendations; streak tracking and achievement systems; usage thresholds; optional Apple Calendar integration for intentions; and premium features including unlimited check-ins, lock-on-reminder, and urgent (alarm-style) notifications.

3. User Responsibilities

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to use the app in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. You will not rely on AI-generated content for medical, psychological, or professional advice. You are responsible for the accuracy of information you provide (e.g., in optimization questions) and for how you use the app's features, including app locking and reminders.

4. Premium Subscription

Premium subscriptions are available for purchase and provide access to additional features including unlimited check-ins, lock-on-reminder, urgent reminders, and other premium-only features. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage your subscription in your Apple ID account settings.

5. App Locking and Scheduling

The app locking feature uses Apple's Screen Time API. You acknowledge that this feature requires appropriate permissions and may not be available on all devices or in all regions. Scheduled locks, lock-on-reminder (when triggered by an intention), and usage thresholds are provided as-is. We are not responsible for any failure to lock or unlock apps, timing inaccuracies, or inability to access locked apps.

6. Intentions, Reminders, and Calendar Integration

The Intent Library allows you to create intentions with reminders, recurrence, and optional overdue reminders. Urgent reminders use time-sensitive notifications that may break through Focus modes. You may optionally add intentions to Apple Calendar. We are not responsible for missed reminders, notification delivery failures, or calendar sync issues. Apple Calendar integration is subject to Apple's terms and your device permissions.

7. AI-Generated Content and Liability

Before You Scroll uses third-party artificial intelligence (e.g., generative models) to produce personalized quotes, daily inspiration, and mood-based responses. You acknowledge that: (a) AI-generated content is provided for entertainment and inspiration only, not as medical, psychological, legal, or professional advice; (b) AI responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate; (c) we do not guarantee the quality, accuracy, or suitability of any AI-generated content; (d) you use AI-generated content at your own risk; and (e) we disclaim all liability for any harm, loss, or reliance arising from AI-generated content. You should not rely on AI-generated content for any decision-making or health-related purpose.

8. Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. We collect and use your data as described in our Privacy Policy. Mood data, optimization answers, usage information, and intentions are stored locally on your device unless you choose to sync data. Data sent to AI services for quote generation is processed according to our Privacy Policy and third-party provider terms.

9. Limitation of Liability

Before You Scroll is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to: data loss; inability to access locked apps; missed or failed reminders; AI-generated content that is inaccurate, offensive, or harmful; app locking or scheduling failures; calendar integration issues; or any reliance on information provided by the app. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the app or subscription in the twelve months preceding the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in such cases, our liability is limited to the maximum permitted by law.

10. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.

11. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the app at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice, for any reason.
